FAQ - Adeptio Staking

How can I start staking?

To participate in staking and getting rewarded:

  • Unlock the Wallet (Wallet can not be encrypted)
  • Chain must be synced, not importing or reindexing
  • Must have active connections
  • At least ~50 ADE coins in the wallet
  • At least 100 confirmations - confirmations can be checked by mousing-over transactions)
  • Masternode additional data must be synced
  • Leave the wallet open 24/7

Does my amount of time staking or coin age affect my chances of winning rewards?

No, adeptio proof of stake does not give more weight to older coins or clients with longer consecutive uptime.  The only weight you have in staking is your (mature) ADE balance. Think of the block reward each minute like a lottery and each mature ADE is a ticket that increases your chances of winning.

Any chance to optimize my inputs/UTXOs for better staking chances?

Short answer is no. But this is debatable.

Why do I need to unlock my wallet for staking?

An option to "unlock for staking only" has been included for security so normal transactions can't be sent during this type of unlock.  An unlock is required because if you win the block reward, your Adeptio Core wallet or Adeptio daemon (adeptiod) client will send out the winning UTXO and it will come back with the reward included.

Do I need to add "staking=1" to my configuration file?

No and Yes. By default Adeptio Core wallet or Adeptio daemon (adeptiod) has staking option enabled by default. So this command is not necessary.

How can I check the staking status?

The status of these conditions in the command-line interface or using Tools -> Debug Console with the command getstakingstatus

How long does it take to start staking?

Staking can sometimes take up to 60 minutes to begin working even after conditions are met. If all conditions are met but staking does not begin after some hours, restart the wallet.

FAQ - Masternode issues

How to check masternode status?

Sometimes you don't know if your masternode is legit and participating in reward system. How to be sure?

Method 1:

Go to your VPS ant simply use a terminal command:

adeptio-cli masternode status

Good result output:

{
"txhash": "c22cdfda2a1f837f872c99e9e324e48850b18198d49a63f7c5c8d8db11739087",
"outputidx": 0,
"netaddr": "x.x.x.x:9077",
"addr": "APxwmaL9gK1yjRo45ntsxFATjaJ4GvQz48",
"status": 4,
"message": "Masternode successfully started"
}

Method 2:

Sometimes masternode status could be an old message from past. In order to be sure we can check all current valid masternodes from adeptio blockchain and parse it by command:

adeptio-cli masternode list

This gives a lot of output to the terminal. So how to be sure that your masternode is in the list?

adeptio-cli masternode list | grep -B 6 -A 6 "YourMasternodeIPaddress"

Successful output:

{
"rank": 55,
"network": "ipv4",
"txhash": "c22cdfda2a1f837f872c99e8e364e48850b18198d49a63f7c5c8d8db11739097",
"outidx": 0,
"status": "ENABLED",
"ip": "YourMasternodeIPaddress",
"addr": "APxwmaL9gK1yjRo5YntsxFATjaJ4GvQz4a",
"version": 70716,
"lastseen": 1546722038,
"activetime": 112186,
"lastpaid": 1546712907
},

Method 3:

Simply check the adeptio explorer - masternode tab and find your masternode in Search bar by IP address:

https://explorer.adeptio.cc/masternodes

I can't start a masternode

Sometimes you just can't start a masternode. We discuss most frequently problems.

Not capable masternode - not found in the list:

Masternode not found in the list of available masternodes. Current status: Not capable masternode: (code -1)

Most likely you are trying to setup HOT masternode which keeps the ADE coin in same VPS. This method no longer supported because it's not safe to keep coins somewhere in the cloud. Please take a look of cold masternode intallation guides:

https://wiki.adeptio.cc/books/masternode---vps-setup-guide

Masternode not found in the list of available masternodes. Current status: Node just started, not yet activated:

Please wait until blockchain sync masternode data. At least ~10 minutes from initial start. If your wallet blocks far away from current block - you have to wait much longer. Until blockchain block matches with yours. You can check by typing in to the terminal:

adeptio-cli getinfo | grep blocks

Now compare with explorer data:

https://explorer.adeptio.cc/api/getblockcount

Not capable masternode - can’t detect valid external address:

Not capable masternode: Can’t detect valid external address. Please consider using the externalip configuration option if problem persists

This problem can be solved by adding a flag to adeptio.conf:

externalip=YourMasternodeIPaddr
Unable to bind to 9077 on this computer. Adeptio Core is probably already running:

Most likely adeptiod is already running or you have difficulties with IP binding to particular port. You can try to add this flag to adeptio.conf:

bind=YourMasternodeIPaddr
Unable to start adeptiod:

EXCEPTION: N5boost12interprocess22interprocess_exceptionE
Permission denied
adeptio in AppInit()

most likely your Unix permissions don't mach with your adeptiod permissions. Try to run adeptiod with sudo rights:

 adetpiod -daemon

GUI wallet shows ENABLED but active time is 00:00 or with negative - sign

Probably you just started a masternode. This shouldn't alarm you, as it can take a few hours for this to reflect. Negative sign appears if you clicked more than once to Start a masternode.

FAQ - storADE issues

Is my storADE working properly?

First check the storADEserver.service status by typing a command in to the terminal:

systemctl status storADEserver

Working properly - running:

● storADEserver.service - Adeptio storADEserver daemon for encrypted file storage
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/storADEserver.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Sun 2019-01-06 00:03:06 UTC; 18h ago
Main PID: 24175 (python)
CGroup: /system.slice/storADEserver.service
└─24175 /usr/bin/python /home/test/adeptioStorade/storADEserver.py

Not working. But trying to start:

● storADEserver.service - Adeptio storADEserver daemon for encrypted file storage
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/storADEserver.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: activating (auto-restart) since Sun 2019-01-06 06:24:16 UTC; 3min 35s ago

Not working and the service is dead:

● storADEserver.service - Adeptio storADEserver daemon for encrypted file storage
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/storADEserver.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: inactive (dead)

storADE failed to start, what's next?

To get additional data we need to check the logging. Take an eye on CRITICAL lines:

Check the storADE logs:

tail -n 30 ~/adeptioStorade/storage/storADE.log

Check storADEserver process logs:

journalctl --since today -u storADEserver

Adeptio masternode working problem

Make sure you have working adeptiod & adeptio-cli daemon at path:

ls -l /usr/bin/adeptiod
ls -l /usr/bin/adeptio-cli

If the problem persists please follow this link and continue debugging process:

https://wiki.adeptio.cc/books/faq/page/faq---masternode-issues

ImportError: No module named OpenSSL

You don't have OpenSSL module, please install:

sudo apt-get update -y
sudo apt-get install python-openssl -y

Can't create StorADE folder

Most likely python don't have permission to create folders in path:

~/adeptioStorade/

Can't create SSL folder

Most likely python don't have permission to create folders in path or SSL files stucked at:

~/adeptioStorade/storage/ssl/
